The feast of Corpus Christi is a public holiday in Liechtenstein. It is a day of both solemnity and joy for devoted Roman Catholics, as it commemorates the institution of the Sacrament of Holy Communion according to Catholic doctrine.

Every mass includes and centres around communion, but the Corpus Christi mass focuses on the belief that the real body and blood of Christ are consumed after the priest blesses the elements. It is a “mass about mass”, in a sense.
Immediately following mass, there will be religious processions through the streets in Liechtenstein, wherein the body of Christ in the form of communion bread is carried through the streets.
Corpus Christi parades can be very colourful in Liechtenstein, and there are also other events and activities going on that make the day truly festive.
